Our Project Mission

In Bangladesh, third gender communities have lived for generations on the margins of society. Despite being officially recognized, most face rejection from their families, discrimination in schools, barriers in healthcare, and almost no access to decent work. Many are forced to rely on begging, traditional performances, or unsafe means of survival — not because they lack talent, but because society denies them equal opportunities.

At OneHeart Bangladesh, we believe this must change. Our project is designed to provide holistic support that empowers third gender individuals to become self-reliant, respected, and integrated members of society.

What We Do

📚 Education & Awareness

  • Many third gender children are denied education due to stigma.

  • We work to provide basic literacy, adult education, and awareness programs that help them gain confidence and knowledge.

  • Community awareness sessions also target families and local communities to reduce prejudice.

🛠 Vocational Training & Skill Development

  • Specialized training in tailoring, IT, crafts, small business management, beauty services, and other practical skills.

  • Job placement assistance and entrepreneurship support so they can enter the mainstream economy.

💰 Financial Aid & Livelihood Support

  • Micro-grants and small loans to start businesses or cooperatives.

  • Guidance in savings and financial literacy so they can manage income sustainably.

  • Partnerships with local markets and organizations to ensure fair opportunities.

🏥 Healthcare & Mental Wellbeing

  • Access to affordable healthcare, sexual and reproductive health services, and counseling support.

  • Safe spaces for mental health care to address trauma from years of exclusion and abuse.

⚖️ Advocacy for Equal Rights

  • Campaigns to promote dignity, equality, and inclusion in schools, workplaces, and public services.

  • Building networks with policymakers to ensure equal rights and protection under law.

Our Goal

Our vision is to create a society where no one is left behind because of gender identity. By addressing the root causes of exclusion — lack of education, employment opportunities, financial resources, and social acceptance — we help individuals break the cycle of poverty and stigma.

With OneHeart’s support, third gender communities in Bangladesh can move from being marginalized to becoming self-dependent, confident, and respected citizens, enjoying the full right of living as human beings, just like everyone else.
